Remodeling Diary 3
May 25-28, 2006
Spent the last 4 days finishing up the electrical work
in the basement, as well as getting the plywood up on the upper
part ofthe walls (which will eventually be wallpapered). The gap
between the cementboard and the plywood will eventually be filled
with gumwood trim.
May 29, 2006
Started putting up the tile on the walls. It's
actually starting to look like a new kitchen!
May 30-June 6
Been busy at work the last week, and we had our house
re-roofed last week as well, so progress hasn't been too dramatic.
I've managed to finish tiling as much as can be done before the
countertops go in (as well as getting it grouted), and I've started
sheathing the ceiling with plywood in preparation for the tin
ceiling we'll be putting in. The upper walls are patched and pretty
much ready for priming. Once done, we can start putting up the
textured wallpaper. It's starting to come together!
June 10, 2006
I've primed and caulked the plywood on the upper walls,
so it's ready for the textured wallpaper (which won't be here
for a week or two). The ceiling sheathing has been finished (which
was no small feat...the ceiling joists changed location and it
took an hour and a half of random drilling to figure out where
they were). I've also started milling the cap rails for the tile,
but I'm not sure at what point I'll start installing it. Maybe
this week I'll put up the tin ceiling.
