Kitchen Pantry
Here are some pics of my kitchen pantry project. It
entailed building and installing a wall of cabinets, installing
wood beadboard, and painting the back half of our kitchen.
Here's a shot of me building the various carcasses
out of 3/4" plywood. My shop is small, so everything is piled
up all over the place! In the background, you can see the hunk
of reclaimed butcherblock that will become the countertop for
the pantry.
Here are the carcasses after a few coats of shellac.
Sitting on top are the various shelves and some of the beadboard
panels that will go into the doors. The faceframe for the cabinetry
is sitting on the left side.
Here are the rails and stiles for the 12 doors of the
pantry. The tenons were cut by machine, but the mortises were
all cut by hand with a mortising chisel and mallet. Am I a masochist
or what?
Here are the cabinet doors laid up and fitted on the
bench. The nickel-plated hardware is being installed.
Here are the upper carcases being installed. Note the
very out-of-level ceiling...we'll have to fill that in later with
some trim.
Lower cabinets are installed, as is the upper face
frame.
Cabinets have been painted, doors and drawers are installed.
Just waiting for some help from my brother to install the countertop.
And here she is, all done. Beadboard has also been
installed in this part of the kitchen.
Here are some additional pictures of the back half
of our kitchen, which is now complete.
